Kate Upton is Grand Marshal at Daytona 500

Kate Upton is Grand Marshal at Daytona 500, Kate Upton's Appointment as Grand Marshal Shows She's Rising. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model Kate Upton has been appointed to tell drivers to start their engines at the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

That should prove rather easy for Upton to do.

The sizzling 19-year-old has exploded throughout America after landing the cover this year. Last year, she won Rookie of the Year honors in her first shoot for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

Upton, who grew up in Florida, should have no trouble fitting in at the Daytona 500. Her appointment as grand marshal in "The Great American Race" should also only fuel her rise.

Upton became the second-youngest model to ever win the Swimsuit issue's cover this year. She's a rising star who is beginning to make her mark on the nation.

It's only up from here for Upton. Some models wait their entire modeling careers to land the cover. Upton has done it as a teenager. She's not only become a marketing magnet, she's done so at a young age, which could make her one of the most popular models ever to grace the Swimsuit issue's pages down the line.

Upton has already appeared in a rather provocative ad for MLB 2K12 dubbed "Finger Mechanics." She's not only booming in the modeling industry, she's capturing the hearts of athletes and sports fans everywhere.

The drawbacks of having Upton at the Daytona 500?

Well, I can't think of many, but there is the possibility of drivers forgetting to take off from the starting line, transfixed on the beauty standing before them. I honestly wouldn't blame any of them if that happened.

It wasn't a surprise that Upton landed the cover and it's not a surprise that she's making her way to major sporting events.
