Based on the aggregation of billions of search queries, the Bing Top Searches of 2012 Report highlights the “most searched” in the following categories:

Most Searched Celebrities of 2012
Being famous is very much like a popularity contest. And with every good or gritty detail about your favorite Hollywood stars just a few clicks away on the Internet, the more they’re searched, the more beloved they become. From Kim Kardashian to Justin Bieber, click through to see who ended up being the Queen of Bing and which celeb fell out of favor on Bing’s Most Searched Celebrities of 2012.
No. 10: Taylor Swift
This newcomer on the Bing’s most-searched list started 2012 off with a bang by taking home two Grammys for her hit song “Mean.” Taylor went on to have a brief summer fling with Conor Kennedy, added a few more music awards to her shelf and capped off fall with a fourth charting-topping album titled “Red.” The album sold 1.2 million copies in its first week — making her one sought-after songbird. taylor swift conor swift split,
No. 9: Nicki Minaj
Making her debut on Bing’s Most Searched Celebrities of 2012, Nicki definitely sparked fans’ curiosity with more than her outrageous costumes and neon wigs. This newbie snagged her spot on this year’s list by embarking on not one, but two worldwide tours, releasing “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” — which became one of the best-selling albums of the year — and landing a gig as a judge on “American Idol.” nicki minaj mariah carey feud, nicki minaj alter ego Roman Zolanski,
No. 8: Jennifer Aniston
She may have fallen from last year’s No. 3 spot, but we bet Jen has not even thought twice about it this year. And that’s because she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and — more importantly — got engaged. It’s only taken her six years to find the perfect guy after her split from Brad, and that’s cause for a celebration! And what better way to congratulate Jen and Justin Theroux than honoring the couple with a new moniker. We’re thinking “JustJen.” jennifer aniston and justin theroux engagement,
No 7: Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez finally found herself on Bing’s most-searched list mostly due to her very sexy commercial for her debut fragrance and midriff-baring role in “Spring Breakers.” OK. Who are we kidding? She secured herself a spot because of all the Beliebers who needed to stay up-to-date with her not-so-private, on-and-off-again romance with the Biebs. Sheesh. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber relationship,
No. 6 Katy Perry
Gaining some traction this year in the celebuverse and on the Web, Katy found herself up one spot from 2011. How did she do it? Well, with her divorce not yet finalized, the bubbly star got caught packing on the PDA with guitarist Robert Ackroyd from Florence + the Machine, at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. She then went on to release the concert documentary “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” which revealed bits and pieces of why her marriage failed. She has since been linked with Hollywood’s most notorious lothario, John Mayer.
No. 5: Lindsay Lohan
Could it be that LiLo dropped one spot this year because she spent less time in cuffs and more time spoofing her troubles on “SNL,” making a cameo on “Glee” and filming “Liz & Dick”? Nope. That wasn’t the case. In between gigs, she still managed to get into some trouble, getting arrested for allegedly hitting a pedestrian in the Big Apple (luckily, the charges were dropped) and engaging in a war of words with her wacky mother, Dina, after a night out on the town. Lindsay Lohan arrested, Lindsay Lohan argument with Dina Lohan ,
No. 4: Rihanna
It’s no surprise that Rihanna landed on Bing’s Most Searched Celebrities this year. But how did she break into such an elite crew of celebs? All RiRi had to do was post a few salacious musings and photos on social media, make her big screen debut in “Battleship,” and finally open up about Chris Brown. Let’s not forget her latest publicity stunt — holding a bunch of journalists and fans captive on a party jet (they boarded of their own will!) in honor of her 777 tour. And she’s so “Unapologetic” about all of it. Rihanna 777 tour plane ,
No. 3: Miley Cyrus
You may not be a fan of Miley’s new cropped ‘do and wild life, but it led her to become one of Bing’s Most Searched Celebrities this year. In May, the former teen queen announced that Liam Hemsworth popped the question. In addition to her new engagement, the star’s edgy new style, her massive collection of pooch-smooching TwitPics and her dramatic weight loss have made her one popular celeb.
No. 2: Justin Bieber
Shockingly, the Biebs fell from the No. 1 spot this year! And at this precise moment he’s dialing up his former swag coach to make sure this never happens again. Even though the Biebs can’t be numero uno every year, he continues to entertain Beliebers with tunes, swanky moves and his enviable hair. What’s more, his fans are scrolling the Web just to keep up on his relationship status … now that he’s on-again, off-again with Selena Gomez. Justin Bieber Selena Gomez Good Heart Oprah, Justin Beiber cheating Victoria’s Secret ,
No. 1: Kim Kardashian
She may be a reality princess, but Kim Kardashian is the Queen of Bing. She caught fans’ attention this year when she stepped out with Kanye West, let the rapper “Kanye” her closet (well, that’s what we call it anyway), and served as the inspiration for his song “Theraflu.” Sure, Internet rankings are probably based on some sort of algorithm, but it seems like if it wasn’t for Kanye, Kim would have never been this year’s Queen B.
