But, while garnering generally favorable critical reviews, the movie left audiences guessing that some of the “things lost in the fire” might have been the plot, the pace, and the action.

Not only did Things We Lost in the Fire not garner any major awards nominations, it didn’t even make back half its $16 million budget in domestic and international takes combined. Worldwide grosses for Things We Lost in the Fire barely cleared $8.5 million, something close to Catwoman’s budget for leather bodysuits alone.
