Tropical Storm Cosme Updates
Tropical Storm Cosme Updates, The tropics are heating up south of Mexico with the formation of a new tropical depression, which will soon strengthen into Tropical Storm Cosme.

Tropical Depression 3-E took shape midday Sunday about 500 miles south of Manzanillo, Mexico, in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center expects the depression to continue strengthening, becoming Tropical Storm Cosme before the new workweek commences and likely a hurricane by or on Tuesday.

While currently stationary, the depression will eventually curve to the northwest. Such a track will steer the system away from Mexico, putting shipping interests at greatest risk for its fierce winds and extremely rough surf.

While escaping the worst of the system, Mexico will occasionally see bands of heavy rain graze its southern coast, from Acapulco to Manzanillo to Puerto Vallarta, through midweek. Flash flooding is a concern.

Surf will also build along the coast during this time, making the water extremely dangerous for residents and vacationers to enter. That is especially true around Manzanillo where wave heights could approach or reach 15 feet Tuesday through Wednesday.

The demise of future Cosme will come soon after midweek as the systems reaches cooler waters and rapidly weakens.
